Morton Depot Project Morton Depot Project

Relocation and restoration of the Morton Depot has been a 20 year dream of the Cowlitz River Valley Historical Society.  Built in 1910, the two story frame building is one of the last of the Milwaukee stations in existence today.  The advent of the train originally opened the Morton area to commerce and economic prosperity as well as travel.  Today, the Depot is a source of pride for Morton residents and serves as a reminder of Morton’s hard-working past..

The project has entered a new phase with the addition of restrooms and the on-site Morton Visitor Center in 2012.  An interpretive center building has also been constructed and is currently awaiting interior work.
