City of Morton Seeks Applicants for Vacant City Council Position #5

The City of Morton is accepting applications to fill a vacant seat on the City Council (Position #5).

The successful applicant will be appointed by the current City Council at the July 27, 2026, Council meeting and will serve through December 31, 2027. The position will then appear on the November 2026 General Election ballot, with the elected candidate serving through December 31, 2029.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Have lived within the Morton city limits for at least one year.
  •  Be a registered voter.

Applications are available at Morton City Hall, 192 Adams Avenue, or can be downloaded from the city’s website at www.visitmorton.com

Completed applications must be submitted to the City Clerk at City Hall by 5:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Qualified applicants will be interviewed, and the City Council is expected to make an appointment during the July 27 Council meeting unless additional time is needed.
